SELWYN HAS BEEN DESIGNATED A 'BEE CITY'
7/11/2018 6:13:40 AM

The Township of Selwyn is Canada's 18th Bee City.

Deputy Clerk for the Township, Tania Goncalves, explains what this really means.

Goncalves says this is a movement in partnership with the Lakefield and the Ennismore & District Horticultural Societies, the Otonabee Region Conservation Authority and the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre.

Things done to be successful in becoming a Bee City include: the creation of pollinator gardens, public information sessions about bees and pollination, naturalization of shorelines by planting native species and the commitment to a pesticide free municipal space.
