A recent survey determined that many local cyclists don't feel safe.

The survey issued by the Peterborough Bicycle Advisory Committee last fall, asking local people interested in cycling to find out how safe and welcome they feel cycling in Peterborough.

A total of 560 people responded to the survey and the results revealed that more than half perceive that bicycling is not safe for all people in this city, and nearly half of those who responded worry about their personal safety while cycling.

P-BAC board member Chad Pinto says he wasn't surprised by the results.

With a municipal election around the corner, the Committee is planning to survey candidates to find out their views on cycling and their level of commitment to supporting cycling initiatives.
