OFF-DUTY FIREFIGHTER HELPS RESCUE WOMAN FROM THE OTONABEE RIVER

The quick action of an off-duty firefighter helped to avoid a tragedy in the city.

Around 7:40 last night, the firefighter noticed a woman in distress while swimming in the Otonabee River.

They entered the water and managed to assist the victim until a rescue boat arrived to the area between the Inverlea and London Street bridges.

The victim was taken to the PRHC for treatment.
