A THREE DECADE POLITICAL CAREER ENDS AS A NEW ONE BEGINS
6/7/2018 11:17:24 PM

Peterborough-Kawartha has decided it wanted a change, and a new MPP has been crowned.

Ontario PC Candidate Dave Smith has been declared the winner, and the new MPP for the riding, narrowly beating out Sean Conway of the NDP, and Liberal Incumbent Jeff Leal.

Smith spoke as to why he felt this riding wanted change.

Smith spoke about going to battle against Conway and Leal

He says there's not much time to rest, as there is still much work to be done

As for Jeff Leal, tonight marks the end of a political career spanning more than 3 decades

Leal spent time thanking those who supported him, and those he served

Among his thank you's, he made sure to send a special thank you to Kathleen Wynne

NDP Sean Conway was also not happy with the result, but happy with the promise that the campaign brought

He says he's happy to see some of his colleagues going to Queen's Park in September, with the 'Orange Wave' acting as the Official Opposition.
