5/10/2018 5:09:56 PM
Northumberland OPP have identified the man whose body was recovered from the Cobourg Beach yesterday, but are still trying to determine how he got there.
Just before 6pm last night, police responded to reports of a man in the water, and in distress.
Cobourg Fire and the Canadian Coast Guard attended with boats and began to search for the man who was no longer visible, which led to a call for assistance from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre at 8 Wing Trenton.
The man was eventually found, about 200 metres off shore, and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with vital signs absent where he was later pronounced dead.
The man has been identified a 32 year old Ryan Zinke of Cobourg. He is described as 5'8", 145lbs with a thin build, and was last seen wearing athletic short, no shirt and known to frequent the Cobourg beach.
Investigators are trying to trace his last movements before he ended up in Lake Ontario.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cobourg OPP.
