With buckets of rain and wintery weather in store for the next several days, the Otonabee Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Watch.

The forecast suggests we could see heavy rain, freezing rain and snow, with accumulation amounts reaching 75 to 100mm over the next 5 days.

ORCA adds that because of the rainfall, water levels and flows in all in all lakes, rivers, and streams will rise significantly, and there is the potential for nuisance or minor flooding in low lying areas on all local lakes, rivers and streams.   They say that the rainfall amounts, could also cause higher than normal water levels and flows creating potentially hazardous conditions.

A reminder as well to stay from waterways, dams, bridge and culverts, and avoid anywhere that water can be seen accumulating and ponding.
