A big time grant is going to help with costs for the Peterborough Humane Society's new facility and some new programs.
Executive Director Shawn Morey has announced PetSmart Charities of Canada has handed over $161,000 toward its capital campaign.
Once constructed, the new facility on Technology Drive will be home to three vital programs in animal welfare: a humane education and adoption centre; a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, and the Ontario SPCA's Dog Rehabilitation Centre-a first-of-its-kind in Canada.
Regional Relationship Manager Dani Mailing says this partnership is helping reduce pet overpopulation by providing access to more affordable services.
