If anyone knows how much of a toll a concussion can take, not only on your physical, but mental health as well, its former NHL'er Marc Savard.
That's why he was selected honourary captain of the 7th annual Gaskell Memorial Cup next month.
The annual pond hockey tournament, organized by HOPE, or Helping Others Participate Equally, will donate all the funds to the Peterborough Family Health Team's Youth Sports Concussion Program.
Savard, who had his hockey career cut short, has been very outspoken about concussion awareness.
The March 24th event features half-ice 3 on 3 hockey games with more than 150 players, along with a BBQ, colouring station, face painting and more at the Evinrude Centre.
