It appears to be the old adage, a small few can ruin it for everyone else.

After a slew of complaints about littering along the James A. Gifford Causeway by anglers, Peterborough County Council has approved a bylaw that will now see the length of the Causeway considered a No Trespassing zone, which means no more fishing.

Local real estate agent Brad Sinclair spearheaded the issue, and brought his concerns to council in the summer, that those fishing from the Causeway were leaving their trash behind after their fishing excursion.

The new no trespassing zone includes the full length of the guardrails on the causeway, along with both shores, and a security firm will be hired to police the new bylaw, and fines will be in place once approved by the Ministry of the Attorney General.
