HEALTH OFFICIALS PUT OUT SAFE FOOD HANDLING REMINDERS AHEAD OF THANKSGIVING

It's time that time of year where we who are fortunate will be stuffing our faces with all kinds of fixings for Thanksgiving.

Peterborough Public Health wants to ensure that you and your family have a safe and enjoyable dinner by properly thawing and cooking your turkey.

Ganesh Vallamkonda, Public Health Inspector, provides essential tips on how to thaw your bird.

    

It takes thorough cooking to kill harmful bacteria and prevent food poisoning and it's recommended cooking poultry to an internal temperature of 82 degrees Celsius and to cook stuffing in a separate dish to reach a temperature of 74 degrees Celsius.
