A LOT MORE TURTLES ON THE MOVE THIS YEAR AND INJURIES ARE UP
8/11/2017 7:10:37 AM

A state of emergency has been declared for Ontario turtles, after its main trauma centre in Peterborough has taken in a lot more than usual. Executive and Medical Director Sue Carstairs says there were almost 750 turtles admitted to the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre. She thinks more turtles are getting injured because the weather is causing them to move a lot more.

Carstairs says if people find a turtle crossing or about to cross the road, they can pull over if they feel safe to do so and help the turtle cross the road in the direction that they are going in.
