SECTION OF DOWNTOWN CLOSED FOR HOURS AFTER ISSUE WITH LIGHT STANDARDS
8/11/2017 6:22:51 AM

A bizarre situation involving light standards in a section of downtown Peterborough led to a closure.

Last night, fire crews stopped traffic on George Street between Hunter and Simcoe after some vintage-style lights on the east side of the street started to smoke.

The area was closed from 6 p.m. until about 8.

There has been no word on what caused the smoke but local electricians were called in to help solve the issue.
