HEALTH OFFICIALS ISSUE REMINDER ABOUT SMOKING BYLAW
7/14/2017 6:20:30 AM

Many people believe smoking outdoors is harmless, but according to local health officials, there is no safe level of exposure.

Peterborough Public Health is partnering with Peterborough Police, the City and Musicfest to remind everyone smoking is prohibited in parks, playgrounds, beaches and sports fields.

Health Promoter Keith Beercroft says the penalties for violators can be steep.

It's estimated that two-thirds of local smokers will try and kick the habit over the next six months and smoke-free parks will play an important role in that.
