MEMORIAL CENTRE FLOOR REPAIRS MOVED TO 2019
4/19/2017 6:46:38 AM

Repairs to the floor at the Memorial Centre are being pushed back a year.

Last night at Committee of the Whole, councillors supported the idea of doing the $2 million renovation in 2019 and not 2018 as originally discussed.

Community Services Director Ken Doherty recommends buying a temporary ice surface that could be used as a back-up if the floor fails during the upcoming hockey season.

One councillor who spoke out against the move was Keith Riel.

Moving the project to 2019 will still impact the Lakers lacrosse season but it will now occur in a year which the Mann Cup will be played out west and not in Ontario.
