POLICE LAY CHARGES IN THEFT AND ASSSAULT INVESTIGATIONS

An 18 year old is facing a slew of charges following a weekend investigation.
At around 2:30am Sunday morning, a cellphone shop in Brookdale Plaza was robbed and a large number of phones were stolen, then yesterday afternoon at around 5:30pm police were called to the Brookdale Plaza to look into allegations that a man was trying to sell one of the stolen cellphones.
Officers arrived and searched the 18 year old and claim they found one of the stolen phones along with a quantity of Alprazolam and cash.
18 year old Ryan Pellerin was arrested and charged with:
· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
· Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
· Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking (Alprazolam)
· Fail to comply with a probation order
He was released from police custody on a promise to appear but was arrested once again following his release.
Police say the received information that Pellerin may have been in possession of more stolen property and was picked up on Water Street, charged with property obtained by crime under $5000 and is expected in court today.
A 22 year old Peterborough man is in court today facing weapon and assault charges.
It's alleged that the accused was involved in an argument with a male in his late teens, and during the verbal spat, the accused apparently pulled out a knife and hit the victim with it.
Mohamad Omar is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts failing to comply with a probation order.
