A 22 year old Peterborough man is facing a series of charges after an alcohol-fueled spat in public. Investigators say the suspect and his victim, a woman in her late 20?s, are in a relationship.

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING TWO LOCAL BREAK-INS

Peterborough Police are searching for suspects connected to a pair of local break-ins. Yesterday, sometime between noon and 7 p.m., items including a MacBook Pro were swiped from a home on Water Street. Also last night, cigarettes and cash were stolen from a Hunter Street West apartment.

OJHL: FORMER PETE MAGUIRE SCORES IN COUGAR WIN

A former Pete had an impressive debut for the OJHL's Cobourg Cougars. Josh Maguire had a goal and an assist, helping the Cougars to a 9-0 win over the Pickering Panthers last night. Connor MacEachern also chipped in with two goals and two assists.

TWO PEOPLE HURT IN HIGHWAY 7 CRASH

Two people needed to be taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 7. Emergency crews were called in just before 4 yesterday afternoon following the collision near Parkhill Road and Hayes Line. A man and woman were injured and needed to be treated at PRHC.

ANOTHER DOWNTOWN BOOKSTORE IS GOING TO CLOSE

It looks like the end of the road is near for 'Scholars Books'. A note in the window of the used bookstore on Water Street claims it will be closing its doors at the end of October.

BRIDGE MURAL ALMOST COMPLETE

The finishing touches are being put on a second mural under the Hunter Street Bridge. Jill Stanton, who is from Edmonton, has been working on the project this month and the finish line is in sight.

APPEAL PROCESS SLOW IN DEALING WITH DEL MASTRO

Peterborough's former MP is still playing the waiting game. In an interview with the Peterborough Examiner, Dean Del Mastro said he is still not sure of when he'll be able to file a second appeal of his 2014 conviction on election fraud charges.

Ownership of a popular restaurant on George Street is changing hands. Scott Venoit and John Druce are taking over Dolcé Vita from Kawartha Entertainment Group. The new owners are going to change the name of the establishment to 'Johnny Vino's Italian Bar and Grill'.
