It may officially be fall, but it will feel like the middle of summer this weekend. Environment Canada has issued a heat warning with the humidex expected to straddle the 40 degree mark.

USED NEEDLES SHOULD NOT END UP IN A BLUE BOX

A warning by City officials, that the blue box is not the proper place to dispose of used needles. They are reporting an increase as of late in the number of used syringes found in blue boxes, and workers have been jabbed with exposed needles, causing concern about their well-being.

SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT BRINGS IN BIG BUCKS FOR PRHC FOUNDATION

An outstanding result has come from a softball tournament held late last month in Norwood. The 'Hitting Back at Mental Illness' tournament brought in more than $35,000 for the PRHC Foundation. The money specifically will be going to help the work done by the mental health services team.

TWO CHARGED FOLLOWING DRUG INVESTIGATION

Two men have been arrested following a drug raid at a Clonsilla Avenue home. Peterborough Police say they uncovered 56 grams of cocaine, and roughly $1500 in cash during a search on Wednesday. Charged are: 20 year old Marcus Jackson of Toronto and 56 year old Nelson Harper of Peterborough.

PETES' HULL EXCITED TO GET SEASON ROLLING

Here we go again! Another season of Petes' hockey gets going tonight at the Memorial Centre. Head Coach Jody Hull can't wait for the puck to drop. Yesterday, the team named Logan DeNoble as its captain.
