'BUILDING OPPORTUNITY CAMPAIGN' GETS FUNDING FROM CFPG

The Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough has handed out its biggest single grant since forming almost a decade ago. Yesterday it was announced $300,000 was being given to The Mount Community Centre's 'Building Opportunity Campaign'.

CREDIT RATING UPGRADED FOR THE CITY

Peterborough has had its credit rating upgraded. A report came down yesterday, that agency Standard & Poor's had given the city a 'AA' rating, up from 'AA-' last year. Chairman of the Budget Committee Henry Clarke says this is absolutely wonderful news.

LIBRARY TO CLOSE PETERBOROUGH SQUARE LOCATION ON DEC. 30

We are still waiting to hear when the official opening date is for the newly renovated Peterborough Public Library. The Aylmer Street location has been closed for the last year-and-a-half, undergoing a $12 million facelift.

The streets of Downtown Peterborough will be a bit busier than normal, especially at George and Simcoe. Today marks the annual 'Three Loonies Fundraiser' in support of the Kawartha Food Share.

BUSY DAY FOR CREWS AFTER TWO CRASHES IN THE CITY

A couple of crashes in the city made for a busy day for emergency crews. Yesterday afternoon, two-vehicles collided on Clonsilla Avenue. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

HELICOPTER OUTSIDE OF TWEED TAKES THE LIVES OF FOUR HYDRO EMPLOYEES

Four Hydro One employees are confirmed dead today, following a helicopter crash north east of Tweed. The crash happened just before the noon hour, in an area where workers have been flown in to do ongoing work on a hydro tower.
