SUSPECTS SOUGHT FOLLOWING BREAK-IN ON CHEMONG ROAD

Peterborough Police are looking for those responsible for a break-in at a Chemong Road apartment. Investigators say between June 6th and 7th, thieves stole a television, an Xbox gaming system and a bicycle. No suspect descriptions have been released.

COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANTS $20,000 TO HOMEWARD BOUND

A local program aimed at helping inadequately housed or homeless mother-led families achieve self-sufficiency is getting a boosting. The Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough announced yesterday it's giving a $20,000 grant to the Homeward Bound program.

Peterborough Fire Services have put out their annual reminder about the by-law, which prevents open-air burning in the city. The reminder came late last week after fire officials began to receive a number of complaints about backyard campfires.

'OPERATION CORRIDOR' WRAPS-UP FOR THE OPP AND MTO

Nearly 1700 transports were checked over a 24-hour span as part of an enforcement blitz between the OPP and Ministry of Transportation. Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the blitz was called Operation Corridor.

If you're looking for a place to cool down with a swim, Lakefield Beach should not be on your list right now. Yesterday, it was posted as unsafe for swimming by Peterborough Public Health because of high E. coli bacteria levels.

WRIGHT ANNOUNCES HE'S RUNNING FOR CITY COUNCIL

Stephen Wright is hoping that the second time is a charm. The 52 year-old has submitted his paperwork to run for City Council in October in Northcrest Ward. Wright also ran in 2014, finishing 4th place with just over 1400 votes.

The Jr. A Lakers finally got back into the win column. Peterborough got past the Toronto Beaches last night at home by a score of 11-6. Taite Cattoni had five goals and two assists in the win, while Drew Hutchison made 54 saves between the pipes.
