PETERBOROUGH MAN ARRESTED ON A YEAR OLD WARRANT

A 38 year old Peterborough man is in custody more than a year after a warrant for his arrest was issued. Police put out a warrant for the arrest of the City man in May of 2015 after he disobeyed a court order to stay away from his former partner, a woman in her 30s.

55 YEAR OLD FACES A SERIES OF TRAFFICKING CHARGES

A 55-year-old Peterborough man is facing drug trafficking charges as part of an investigation by the Drug Unit. During an investigation officers spotted a drug deal take place last Thursday evening (July 21st) in the George Street area.

The Peterborough Petes are looking for Billet Families to step forward for the upcoming season. Applications for the 2016/17 campaign are now being accepted. Team officials say successful applicant families will be providing a vital service by welcoming a Petes player into their home.

HABITAT HOME BEING BUILT IN WARSAW

The ground is broken, and work will begin in the next week or so on a new home in Warsaw for a local family. Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region will start work on their 27th home on Peterborough Street for Josh and Natasha Clark-Bandi and their two daughters.

'CANADA'S BIRTHDAY CAKE' NAMED BEST FLOAT IN 2016 PARADE

The four best floats entered in the 149th Canada Day parade have been revealed. 'Canada's Birthday Cake' put together by Murray Fallaise was crowed best overall float representing the theme 'My Peterborough, My Canada'.

FALUN GONG PROTEST HELD AT CITY HALL

City Hall was the site of another protest - this time led by Falun Gong practitioners. A small group gathered yesterday as part of a cross-country tour, and spoke out against alleged organ harvesting and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

MOUNT 'DOODLE' AUCTION GETS ANOTHER BIG NAME SUBMISSION

More star power has stepped forward to help out The Mount Community Centre. Organizers are holding a celebrity 'doodle' auction later this year to help raise money for the new centre on Monaghan Road. TV star Carol Burnett has joined the likes of Serena Ryder by submitting a doodle.
